We would like to thank the 46 brave souls that made it to our 2010 Holiday Party. The turnout this year was much smaller than in past years due mostly to the record setting rain fall that came down during the week of the event, supposedly the most rain in a single storm for LA since 1987. Those who did make it out to Taix’s were glad they did, we had a much larger than usual raffle and there was plenty of leftover turkey and ham with all the fixins to take home.
We started the lunch a few minutes later than usual to give everyone some extra time to get there since it was storming hard. The meeting was called to order at 12:15 by President Allan Lloyd whos first order of business was to announce the winners of the previous month’s elections.
President: Allan Lloyd
Vice President: Andrew Ryan
Treasurer: Leslie Malloy
Secretary: Ray Miller
The treasurer’s report showed that as of December 22nd, 2010 the EIGSC has $15,013 in the bank.
We will start sending out reminders/invitations to the monthly lunches thru a free website, Evite.com. This allows us to send e-mails to everyone and also allows the recipient to RSVP. Please keep your eyes open for these e-mails and if you’re not receiving them please get in contact with Secretary Ray Miller so he can add you. Taix is requesting we submit the number of guests for each lunch in advance. You may want to add this website to the list of approved websites if you have a SPAM blocker as this may not reach your inbox if you do.
Next, it was announced that the date of this year’s golf tournament has been set. Please mark your calendars for June 18th, our annual tournament in support of the Elevator/Escalator Safety Foundation will be held at the California Country Club. Scott Dutton has once again stepped up and taken the lead, he always does a great job but we could use some additional help as the event gets closer. If you’d be able to lend a hand setting up on the day of the tournament please talk to Scott or Allan.
As always, the Holiday Party has the best raffle of the year and even with the dreary weather, this one was no different. Our treasurer Leslie Malloy and her lovely daughter Margaret were a big help in calling the numbers and handing out the prizes, Allan on the other hand was a terrible number picker and got booed often. Top prize this month went to Mr. Farris who took home $100 cash from the group, countless other people went away with bottles of liquor and wine that were most likely consumed over the Holidays and New Years celebrations.
Thank you to everyone who brought a gift and purchased raffle tickets, the proceeds go to a great cause.
Doris Brannon (Candy), Joe Orrico (Candy), Steve Grainer (2 bottle of liquor), Pearl Tillipman (liquor), Stan Schultz (book), Leslie Malloy (Candy), Mike Arritola (Liquor), Steve Rosnack (2 boxes of candy), Andrew Ryan (wine), Jack Parker (wine), Christine Lam (Clock and ornament), Sam Farooq (liquor), Ray Miller (liquor), Scott Dutton (A lot!), Brian Gaa (gift card), Woody Wright (liquor), Carolyn Chavez (wine)
Our next meeting will be on January 18th at the same spot as always. Our speaker this month will be Elevator Consultant Robert Krieger. We are running out of ideas for speakers so if you know of anyone please speak to Allan about setting up someone new. See you at January’s lunch!
