The Shaft

2011 Golf Edition

This year’s golf tournament was another huge success! Special thanks to Scott Dutton and his team of volunteers, we seriously couldn’t have done it without them.  Everyone who came out was blessed with beautiful weather, endless tacos and margaritas and an all-around good time. The California Country Club hosted our tournament for the 5th year straight and as always, they put on a well-organized event. 78 EIGSC members and their guests teed off at this year’s event, which helped us raise $3,500 for the Elevator/Escalator Safety Foundation – big success!

This year we actually had some impressive scores posted, seems like everyone has been working on their golf game. Our award ceremony immediately followed the tournament and prizes were handed out to our winners and several runner ups. Awards were also handed out for longest drive, closest to the hole and other competitions that were going on during the tournament. Our raffle this year had some incredible prizes including big screen HD TVs, gift cards and copious amounts of booze and wine – thanks to everyone who donated these prizes.

We have been on a hiatus from our monthly lunches following the annual golf tourney, but our first lunch is quickly approaching. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday September 20th at 11:30 am at Taix’s Restaurant. The EIGSC’s very own Guy Gruppie will be presenting this month along with Mhare O. Mouradianc from Murchison & Cumming LLP. They always have a very educating and fact filled presentation and this month they will be talking about the spoilage of evidence.

This month we will also have the final report from the accountant who audited our books recently.

We hope to have every single member in attendance and encourage everyone to bring a guest who is in the elevator industry. We are very much looking forward to having our best year yet!
